Schieder-Schwalenberg water treatment plant, Germany Safe processes through automation and remote control technology
Schieder supplies the inhabitants of the seven communities of the main community as well as a few inhabitants of the neighboring city Steinheim daily with approx 1100 m³ drinking water.

The application
Modern protocolling functions, mapping the various measured values, as well as the option of malfunctions and errors being detected - all these were requirements for the central data acquisition in the Schieder-Schwalenberg water treatment plant.
Due to the good experience with Phoenix Contact during earlier projects, the automation technology from our company was preferred even for this modernization measure. The responsibility for conceptualization and programming was undertaken by the system integrator Antonio Algarve from iPATEC.

Solution
All operational and control data of the individual communities is recorded centrally in the control center of the Schieder water treatment plant. An RFC 430 high-performance controller from Phoenix Contact is used to control and monitor the system.
All incoming signals are read in via the Inline I/O terminals and communicated to the control system via the INTERBUS connection. The RFC sends all signals to the control room via TCP/IP for the process visualization.
With the help of Resy+, the remote control technology from Phoenix Contact, removed system parts such as pumping stations and elevated tanks could be integrated into the entire process via permanent lines. In the removed external systems, a ILC 200 controller from Phoenix Contact is used to exchange data and ensure smooth operation.

Summary:
"With Resy+, we have realized problem-free seamless communication over large distances.
Finally, all measured values and consumption can now be presented and checked in detail.
All error messages are transmitted and on-site monitoring is now only performed three days a week," explains electrical engineer, Ulrich Wicke.
